Digital Learning

This week we added ‘Technologies’ to our weekly timetable. On Thursday, the children explored signing on to the Chromebooks independently. They also learnt to search independently for Chrome Music Lab. This is a fun programme, where children can explore making a range of sounds such as looking at a ‘spectogram’ or using ‘songmaker’. This can be used at home by typing ‘Chrome Music Lab’ into your search bar. We also explored the ‘voice to text’ tool; the children speak into the Chromebook and it types what they have said. We had so much fun exploring!

Happy New Year!

I’d like to say thank you again for the lovely gifts and cards I received at the end of last term, I felt very lucky and I am so grateful, thank you.

It has been lovely to have the class back together again. As you may know, this week we started our new year with a focus on Health and Well-being and have been lucky enough to have some visitors! On Tuesday, we had a Live n’ Learn workshop where we learnt about all round physical and mental health……ask your children about a growth mindset and see what they can tell you! On Thursday, we took part in a yoga workshop which was based on ‘The Jungle Book’ and animal poses/stretches, and on Friday, we had ‘Jammin Fitness’ in for a dance workshop. I was able to get some photos of the yoga, however I was busy joining in with our dance! I can share that the children thoroughly enjoyed it and commented on being sweaty and tired, so it definitely supported our physical movement focus!

Other main aspects of learning were the importance of drinking enough water throughout the day and learning what happens to our brain if we haven’t had enough sleep. We learnt that it can make us feel grumpy, unorganised and forgetful……maybe this can help when it comes to bedtime at home?! Mrs Laird also held daily assemblies so we could have a closer look at our emotions through using the ‘Inside Out’ characters Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear.

Fantastic start to the term!

Last day of term….

Just a short blog to wish you all a wonderful Christmas. I hope you have a fun and restful break. I am very grateful for the lovely cards and gifts I have received, thank you very much.

We look forward to singing in Church on Friday 20th; please send your child to school in school uniform for their performance.

Thank you to everyone for contributing to our class enterprise. We counted the money in each envelope and compared the different coins which can be used to make £2.50. We hope you like the children’s artwork on their Christmas tile.

Best wishes,

Ms. Mackay

P2/3 Enterprise

We have been working very hard on designing and making Christmas tiles for our class Enterprise. The children have each created a design on a tile, and we would like to invite you to buy your child’s tile at just £2.50 each. These are a lovely keepsake to take out with the Christmas decorations each year. All money will go towards school funds.

Please send money in to school in the payment envelope provided by Monday 16th Dec. The children will be checking money and send change home if required.

Thank you in advance for your support. Please see a photo below of some of the tiles.

Week commencing 2.12.19

Hello to everyone! We have a new visitor in our classroom! Kinder the Elf first appeared on Monday. Today, he brought us our very own Kevin the Carrot. Kinder keeps an eye out for any children being kind to others, so he’ll be a very busy elf in our classroom!

We were very lucky to also have a human visitor. Many thanks to Mr Hickson who came in to help plan for our writing this week. Mr Hickson shared a story he has written and some funny rhymes. We also made up our own mystical creature called Purr-teeth. You can ask your child all about what a Purr-teeth is.

I have copied a link to the Christmas song we are learning to sing at the church this year. The words are also now in your child’s homework folder. If you can practise at home that would be a great help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3HJgCcSUqQ&disable_polymer=true

Finally our spelling words are focusing on the short a_e sound this week and are words are:

Tape, snake, bake, fade, hate, name.

Please feel free to leave us a comment!
